About Me.
Hi, I'm Amy, a pediatric occupational therapist and mental health expert based in South Australia. For over 10 years, I've dedicated my career to helping children and teens develop essential life skills through my clinical practice and written resources.
As the founder and director of OT GO, a thriving occupational therapy practice in South Australia, I've had the privilege of working with hundreds of families seeking support for their children's development. Our clinic specializes in creating personalized therapy plans that address executive functioning, social skills, emotional regulation, and anxiety management—the same core areas I explore in my books.
What sets my approach apart is the practical application of complex therapeutic concepts. I believe that every child deserves access to tools that can help them navigate life's challenges with confidence and resilience, regardless of whether they can visit a clinic like mine.
Author and Publisher
My journey as an author began when I noticed a gap in accessible resources for parents and caregivers. Drawing from my clinical experience and insights as a mental health professional, I've authored nine books on topics ranging from executive functioning and social skills to anxiety management and self-love for teens.
In 2024, I took an exciting new step in my career by founding Akeso Publishing, a publishing venture created to bring my work directly to readers and provide a platform for other new authors with valuable expertise to share. This business allows me to maintain the quality and integrity of my resources while expanding their reach to help more families worldwide.
As both author and publisher, I'm committed to creating books that translate evidence-based practices into everyday strategies that parents, educators, and young people can implement immediately. Each workbook is designed with real families in mind—because I understand firsthand the challenges of supporting children through their developmental journey.
Life in Australia
My home in South Australia provides the perfect backdrop for both my professional and personal life. When I'm not writing or working with clients, you'll find me exploring the beautiful Australian landscapes with my family—my partner and our four wonderful children.
Our home is also shared with two energetic dogs and one rather opinionated cat, who often provide both inspiration and welcome distractions during my writing process! These daily family adventures inform my work, reminding me of the real-world applications of the strategies I teach.
The unique Australian perspective influences my approach to therapy and writing. Our emphasis on outdoor living and connection to nature often finds its way into my recommendations for families seeking balance in today's digital world.
My Philosophy
I believe that every child has inherent strengths waiting to be discovered and nurtured. My work—whether in my clinic, through my books, or via my publishing company—is guided by this core principle. By providing practical tools rooted in occupational therapy and mental health expertise, I aim to empower young people to recognize their capabilities and develop the skills they need to thrive.
What truly drives me is seeing the transformation when a child applies a new skill and experiences success. That moment of pride and confidence is what continues to inspire my writing and clinical work every day.
